For Educators

A Day in the Life on the Farm

Your day will begin with our volunteers greeting you with a hayrack ride to our 20x20 Yurt classroom. From here your day will begin. You will be divided into smaller groups to visit each station on the farm.

You will then gather back with your larger group for their sack lunch in our designated space. There are play areas that you can access during your free time. You will also have access to our classroom and covered gazebo for your discretion. At the end of your trip you will be taken back to your bus on a hayrack ride to depart for your school.

Tomato Plant Instructions

● 1 planting disk

● 1 envelope of 2 tomato seeds w/ sand

Directions:

Place the plant pellet into a cup and cover with water.

Let it sit for 15 minutes, and the pellet will grow into a pot plus growing medium

Place the pellet into another container and open the envelope with the seeds.

Take the 2 seeds (flat, yellowish and tear drop shaped) and place into the dimple on the open end of the pellet pot. You can throw away the sand.

Put approximately 1 inch of water into the bottom of the container and watch the pellet pot to make sure it stays damp. Keep your container in a warm sunny space, like a window sill.

The seeds will sprout in a matter of days. When you have 4 leaves you may transplant the plant into a larger pot. Or in the ground.

Sweet cherry tomatoes will form for harvest is 60 days. The fruit forms where you see yellow flowers first.
