Walnut Pond Ag Discovery Center exists for education and demonstration, for the community and the individual, to promote production, conservation, and sustainability of the land and its bounty.

At Walnut Pond we produce hay, vegetables, animal products and animals. The sale of these items help to offset the costs of production as an educational, hands-on tool.

One of the best functions as a non-profit is that we are able to participate in the preservation of heritage breed animals as well as heirloom variety vegetables and plants. The animal breeds are part of the endangered list or the conservation list (meaning they are still at risk and in low numbers.). Heirloom varieties are original state, non-modified seeds that are important to preserve as a basis to replicate for modern modified versions.

Conservation is present in every aspect of Walnut Pond, meaning our focus is to conserve (or not waste) any of our resources. Growing practices that are mindful of water and soil. Pasture management, to not over graze and minimize amendments to the soil. Erosion control methods to preserve soil and water contaminants.

Our vision
As a not-for-profit organization, Walnut Pond Agricultural Discovery Center’s goal is to provide education and demonstration for agriculture to the community by exposing children, as well as adults, to farming and careers in agriculture, and agricultural adjacent careers. We also aim to serve as a connection to “where their food comes from.”
